Asus VivoBook S14 With i5 8th Gen SSD HD Laptop Review

Thin and light laptops that also offer good processing power have in the past, been quite expensive. However, this scenario is slowly changing in 2018. Intel’s new 8th Gen Core CPUs are partly responsible for this change, as for the first time, low-voltage mobile parts aren’t restricted to two CPU cores anymore. Now you can get the compactness and powerful processor under the hood in Asus. Asus’s new VivoBook S14 has been designed keeping portability in mind for lightweight compatibility and good performance.

We have an S406U variant with us for review. It's slim and light, and looks quite nice, especially in the all-gold trim that we have. Beside this if you want something more premium and touch screen which can rotate you can go for Asus ZenBook Flip S(UX370) .

Design:

The VivoBook S14 is stylish, and we think its design will work for both professional and casual use. It’s available in two colour options, so you can choose whether you want to go for a flashy gold or understated grey look. The lid is said to be scratch-resistant with a ‘spun-metal’ finish. Asus has been using this treatment for its high end ZenBook series for a long time, but you get vertical lines on the VivoBook instead of the trademark concentric circles. The lid does offer very good protection for the display, and we didn’t see any warping when applying pressure.

The hinge extends about 120 degrees backwards, which we found comfortable enough for typical usage positions. However, the hinge doesn’t have very good torsion, causing the display to wobble easily. This could be a problem when using the laptop in a moving vehicle.

There’s no touchscreen but you do get a full-HD resolution IPS panel with an anti-glare finish. This negates issues with reflections indoors, and we found the brightness to be quite adequate, even when using it under sunlight. We also like the slim borders on the sides of the display. Asus has managed to fit a 14-inch panel in a chassis typically designed for 13-inch ones.

Performance And Battery Life:

Before we crunch numbers, here’s the specifications of the machine:

• Processor: Intel Core i5 8250U processor (8th Gen)
• OS: Windows 10 Home
• Memory: 8GB DDR4 1866MHz
• Display: 14-inch LED 1920x1080 Anti-glare
• GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 620
• Storage: 256GB Sata 3 SSD

On PCMark 10, we saw scores of 3,432 points which is decent and in general the 8th Gen Core i5 is enough for most tasks with ease. Gaming performance as expected from the on-board Intel UHD graphics isn’t too great. Old games worked a lot better though. In general, this laptop isn’t meant for gaming and that’s okay.

In day to day usage we were hard pressed to find any slowdowns and stutters. Applications opened smoothly and everything ran pretty fast thanks to the SDD. Battery life is about average and the device tended to last about four to five hours before we needed to plug it in. At most, you should be able to get it through workday with light browsing and some downtime YouTube just fine

Verdict:

The VivoBook S14 is an interesting device, it looks good also. It’s fast but has average battery life with the good display. It’s a machine that good for professionals but Asus has managed to price it really aggressively to the point where an entry level 8th Gen Core i3 variant starts at Rs. 49,990. Asus’ own K510UQ-BQ667T offers the best value with better specifications and a larger screen but retails for Rs. 55,000. SO this machine got rating as

Sound output of this device is loud enough to be herd in entire 1BHK apartment. Obliviously you can control the volume form speaker itself or form remote control come along with it. Even on the full volume quality of sound remains intact we  haven't got any distrotion or glitches while playing music at full volume.

Design: 

The SB574 is one of the best looking Bluetooth speakers in this segment. On the front, you get to see the SoundBot branding on top of cloth finish. SoundBot used a really high-quality plastic and covered it with a Grey wood finish to make the speaker look much more premium.

On top of speaker you can see 2 buttons viz. Play, Volume down and volume up respectively. The buttons are shaped according to their actions and are embossed to the body to give a nice feel when you click them. The buttons on the top are firm and have a nice clicky feel to them.

On back of the speaker we have on/off button and microUSB charging port and Aux port. The speaker comes fitted with rubber standoffs at the bottom that provide excellent grip to the smooth ground and prevent speaker from sliding off from the surface. This rubber standoffs provide excellent grip to speaker when you are listening to music on high volumes. 

Sound And Performance:

When you tun on SB574 speaker makes a beeping sound while turning on or connecting to Bluetooth devices. Then open your Bluetooth setting and select SB574 and connect to it. On successful connection speaker provide again different beep sound for confirmation of getting connecting to your device.

The sound quality of the SoundBot SB574 is very satisfying. The bass is a little low for the speaker’s size. The SB574 produce very much balanced sound. The highs and mids and lows were quite impressive. Again this just a personal choice. Even if you listening to music at maximum volume SoundBot SB574 producing very impressive sound quality with very low distortion in the sound.

The SB574 does not pack in a lot of features. It takes around 2-3 hours to charge the speaker enough to get at least 5-6 hours of continuous usage. The microphone in the speaker is weak-point of this speaker. The volume on the speaker is independent of the volume on the device it plays from. We tested on multiple devices including phones and computers and the result was the same. However, the range of the Bluetooth connectivity is excellent.

Pricing And Verdict:

SoundBot SB574 is available online for Rs. 1,890. For the price point, and the sound quality it offers, it's best Bluetooth speakers in the market. Our rating for SoundBot SB574 is

Asus ZenBook Flip S(UX370) Laptop Review : Slimness with 2-In-1 Usage

Today we are going to review today Asus ZenBook Flip S (UX370) 2-In-1 convertible laptop. In this version Asus has updated latest processor in the market, the 8th generation Coffee-lake(i7 8th Gen)  by Intel along with the usual top-end specifications from it's predecessor Asus ZenBook Flip UX360CA. This ZenBook series is mainly made the professionals and content producing artist which require high end processing along with good touch screen support to make their life easy.The company priced the ZenBook Flip S (UX370) at Rs 1,30,990 and it is already available on sale at retailers across the country.

Device Overview: 

Asus sent us ZenBook Flip S (UX370) that packs an Intel 8th generation Core CPU clocked at 1.8GHz with a turbo frequency of up to 4GHz. It also have 16GB LPDDR3 RAM and 512GB SATA3 SSD storage integrated inside it. The company claims that it is the lightest and thinnest convertible in the laptop industry with just 1.1 kilograms in weight.

You might be thinking it is for the gamer, well not really Asus has packed Intel HD Graphics 620 which not suitable for mid or high end gaming. Yes you can play some low graphic casual games on this device. Beside with this powerful CPU it generates lot of heat which cooling fan can exert out from a single ventilation available on device. Beside this is mainly streamlined device for professionals and media content providers. Asus has added a 13.3-inch display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. The display also comes with thin bezels, something that Asus called it as the NanoEdge design. The device comes with a convertible design that depends on that “360-degree hinge”.

Device also works as tablet even you use it as laptop posture. It equipped with all connectivity options like Bluetooth, WiFi, USB type C. Even to out of the box it's charging itself have type C port as connector. ZenBook Flip S (UX370) comes with full-sized keyboard with backlit keys, and a large touchpad with glass, palm rejection, and Windows precision driver support. Asus have packed its dual Asus SonicMaster Premium stereo speakers that have been certified by Harman Kardon. It also comes with a 3.5-mm headphone jack, and a VGA web camera for video conferencing. While ZenBook Flip S (UX370) being powered by a 39Wh 2-cell lithium-ion battery.

Design And Display:

The company seems to have awesomely design with the minimalist approach. ZenBook Flip S (UX370) have a mute blue shade along with a mix of golden accented finish running across the borders. The hinge is a bit different than what we have seen in other laptops but that has to do with the 360-degree convertible form factor. The 360-degree, tablet mode was flawless. I liked how the keyboard disabled itself when I switched to the tablet mode so that they don’t interfere with the operations.

I did not find any problem with the design and came to appreciate small aspects such as the presence of power button, volume rocker, integrated fingerprint scanner, and a USB Type-C port on the right side along with the second USB Type-C port on the left side of the notebook so that users have the option to power the device through either of the two sides. The only problem with this device is USB ports are not available. But we have work around for it, we can use Type C OTG cable for the same if in case needed.

Moving to the display of the notebook, it comes with a 13.3-inch display with Nano-deign that looks good. The display is touch capable so that you can use your fingers to interact with Windows to use the bundled stylus to ink, scribble, or draw especially when in the tablet mode.

Performance And Battery:

For processing front we have Intel i7(8th Gen) processor which handles daily task like surfing Internet and ZenBook Flip S (UX370) firepower to cover my daily work that includes about 7-8 hours of typing on a word processing program, 1-1.5 hours of streaming music all the while working on 8 to 25 tabs on Google Chrome at any given time. With 16 GB of RAM every software works smooth and flawlessly. Beside that you can also enjoy casual gaming like NFS Most wanted and NFS Carbon and POP. But while playing games we have to push processor to the max and that generate the ample amount of heat inside the device. But heat generated in the device at it's max load which only have way out at the left side ventilation to put it out. So you cannot play games much with this device.

It also managed to handle the usual edits in Lightroom Classic or Adobe Photoshop CC while cranking the fan up to keep the system cool rendering anything complicated. The quality of webcam was borderline decent and Asus has packed bottom firing speakers with the device. This makes the Notebook fire all the sound it generates from the speakers downwards in order to make use of the surface below the device to reflect back the sound to the user.

Final Words:

Before buying this ZenBook Flip S (UX370) you have to be clear in your mind. This device is only for show off with office productivity along with media content generators. If you are in intensive gaming and programming then you might want to switch to the other option available in market. For overall quality and usability we are giving this device as

Opening the Box:

In the box you will get SoundBot SB517, a charging cable (beware, this one is not micro Usb: it is Usb on one side and MP3 on second side.) and a quick start guide. The charging port, well protected by a small rubber flap.

Note: Charging cable seems to be specialized manufactured for this speaker so take care of it well.

On the top are the control buttons: on/off, play/pause, tracks and volume control, which are self-explanatory by their symbols itself. The buttons are made of rubber which provide quite nice look to it. Under the speaker is the suction cup, using which you can fix the speaker as per yours convince may it is on the wall or glass or any vertical place you may think fir to. It can be removed if you do not intent to use it. You can use it in bathroom while having shower or even take to swimming pool and create small pool party of your own.

Let’s Play:

When turned on, the SoundBot SB517 emits notification blue LED and sound for user convenience. Once you get these checks, you have to check your device detecting and connecting it to SoundBot SB517. If you see “SB517” in your Bluetooth device list, select it and a small beep will indicate that the two devices are paired.

The Sound:

Despite only 3W power, the sound is good. The sound will not distort even at the high volumes, it provides loud and clear sound. SoundBot SB517 you go up to 90db, which will allow you to diffuse music not only in your shower or your bathroom, but also in all your apartment. Not only this it has built in subwoofer that enhance your music experience by boosting the bass. So, if you love music with additional bass you can go for it. You can even see the speaker base area get vibrate while playing the music once you fix it on place you like.

Classy Design:

Design of the speaker is noticeable thing that other recognize when you hold them with you. We have got white color speaker for our review. The color itself is nice but glossiness of material makes it look more attractive. SB517 are available in 4 colors viz: black, blue, red and white. So, you have choice to select the color you like as per your preference.

SoundBot to say that the SB517 is completely waterproof: it has an IPX7 rating, which means that you can plunge it completely into the water at a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes without problem. So you can take it in your shower and let the speaker also take bath with you as much as you like, it will remain in perfect working condition. At the pool, you can even let it float on the surface of the water, it will sail quietly like a small boat while you go swimming.

Hands-Off Phone Calls:

The SoundBot SB517 comes integrated with a microphone, which enable you to make phone calls hands-free (convenient to call in the shower). Another very useful feature is the to call back the last dialed number simply by holding down the dedicated button for 3 seconds. This button is also used to make or end a call.

Conclusion:

This speaker really has great features and design. The most important aspect is its design, classy and refined. The sound is also good, despite a low power. Its IPX7 certification does not make it afraid of extreme weather conditions or an accidental dip in the bath or pool!

For the convenience, the Room along with the switches are fully customizable as per the user’s needs. It enables you to change the name of the room as well as the switches accordingly.

There are many other scenarios in which the scheduling feature can really be a helping hand none the less.l

Well if we compared the price then InFocus Vision 3 is the only device offering 18:9 aspect ration Full HD screen resolution along with the Dual camera setup. Even though device have 2GB RMA and 16 GB ROM but it does it's work well. In department of look and feel device feels premium and I can say get attention of other users as well quickly. If we consider the price range this device is bes in class.
